Douglas-Apsley National Park
A few kilometres north of
Bicheno is the entrance to the Douglas-Apsley National Park, with its dry
sclerophyll forest and riverside walking tracks, swimming holes, birdlife and
Oyster Bay pines. Walks include the 20 minute
return
stroll to the Apsley Waterhole, the three hour Apsley Gorge circuit and the
three day north-south bushwalk through the park. (To reach the start of the
three day walk, turn south on the MG forestry road 5 km south of St Marys.) Root
rot (Phytophthora cinnamomii) is a problem in the area please clean boots
and tent pegs before and after visiting the park.
Freycinet National Park

Home to the stunning Wine Glass Bay, Freycinet is a popular national park with
great walking trails that offer superb
beaches, bays, dunes and lagoons for magnificent panoramas.
East Coast Natureworld

Come see the animals that define Australia's uniqueness at this 30,000-hectare
wildlife park. Tasmanian devils, emus,
wombats, kangaroos, pelicans, wallabies, black swans, and more can be found in
this parkland around lagoons, lakes, canals, and sandy beaches. Visitors can
also take a ride on the Pelican Express, stop at Old MacDonald's Farm, and lunch
at the restaurant.

A variety of shops are within easy walking distance from the Bicheno Dive Centre and all lines are well catered for. Counter meals or first class restaurants are even closer with takeaways also available

Bicheno only has limited banking facilities, access to STATE and COMMONWEALTH
branch agents are available in the POST OFFICE and EFTPOS available at other
stores.

Commercial Crayfishing, boats are moored in the beautiful Waubs Bay and at The
Gulch.
Tourism to Bicheno is increasing, giving rise to a variety of accommodation,
eateries, retail shops & hospitality related employment (seasonal).
